Drawing for illustration, Week 7 (14/11/2023)

In the seventh week into the module of drawing for illustration, we began our four week exploration into life drawing and the processes, mediums and techniques employed within this theme. Throughout this session with our life model, we experimented a variety of different skills and techniques in creating line, tone, form and shape in our compositions.

1: 5 minute warm up
This was our first drawing and a quick warm up to test our observational skills.

2: Continued variation warm up
We continued warming up with quicker sketches of different poses using different techniques such as our non dominant hand, connecting two pencils together and using both hands. After this we did a longer continuous line pieces and a 2 minute observation/3 minute drawing from memory piece.

3: 2-5 minute viewpoints
Using a cardboard square we focused on viewpoints of the life model instead of the full body figure.

4: 1 minute warm ups and 3-4 minute silhouette
After a short break we did three quick continuous line full body sketched and then using shading and a rubber created the life model's silhouette.

5: 1 minute continuous line viewpoints and 6 minute mark making
For the last sketches of this sessions, we created four different continuous line viewpoints of our life model and then using a key of mark making (as shown on the left) created four pieces using as many marks as possible to create line and pattern.
